Amongst the busy streets, just how many do you know of that are suffering from the strangles of suffocation?

"Amongst the busy streets, just how many do you know of that are suffering from the strangles of suffocation?" – @greyaffairs (Ig)

Amongst the busy streets and different walks of life, people you've brushed past, people whom you are acquaintances with, your friends, close friends, and even your family and relatives, how many do you know of that are suffering from emotional turmoil, depression, suicidal thoughts and the oh-so-common thoughts of giving up? And just how many of them, are covering those dark feelings with smiles and laughters?

We all have the tendency to hide and shun from the eyes of public when we're down and out. When we're at our lowest, only allowing trusted and close friends to be there, some even none. We feel inferior when we are weak, we feel that we deserve nothing good that life has to give. We feel unwanted, discouraged, thrown aside, scared, useless and even as someone irrelevant. Like our existence didn't matter.

How many times have we cried out for help? How many times have you been there for a friend in need? How many times have you stretched out your hand, to strangers that approached you for help?

All these actions, proves how much trust you have in yourself and the world.

When you cry out for help, you trust the person helping you. When you lend a hand, your friend trusts you. And when you help a stranger, they want to trust you, to not judge them and label them like the rest of the world did.

For all we know, people who come to us for help, have been the ones we see to always be smiling, laughing and being there for everyone. That doesn't mean that they are weak and they have fallen from their thrones. They are human too, they feel. Just like us, it's just that they hold on to life as they try and piece back the fallen pieces together. To a point where they lose it, where they just need a break from fixing up their puzzle pieces, and thats where we come in to help.

Who knows that the girl sitting in front of you in a cafe, smiling, talking to a friend, may just be the girl who digs her nails into the flesh and skin of her wrist at night when she's all alone. The sunshine boy next door may seem happy while doing sports with his team, but yet suffers from thoughts of giving up? People all do things for a reason. We may be that way because of a certain experience in the past that haunts us every now and then. We may seem happy, we may seem stress-free. Who really knows what's happening deep down in our minds? Some may feel inferior because someone once commented on the way she talks and smiles, some because of his skills at school or work. Some insults stay, not just temporarily. But for life.

Reaching out to someone doesn't make you a hero, neither does crying out for help make you a weakling.

We all need someone alongside us. Never hesitate to lend an ear, because for all you know? That may just be the last time you hear from them again.
