"maybe the laughters aren't true and the tears weren't fake."

Strong fronts and facades.

How often do we lie about being okay to everyone who asks and shows concerns?

How often do we put up a strong front, to show people that we are doing well with our current situation?

How often do we convince our friends that we are genuinely happy, whilst holding in all the tears deep inside?

How often do we fall from our place of comfort, our thrones, our pride, and our ego?

Why?

People hold in too much emotions, we cover them up with masks. We, were never happy to begin with. Once we reach the stage of us being able to think for ourselves, we stopped being happy from then on. We suffer from heartbreaks, we suffer from family squabbles, we suffer from broken friendships and betrayed colleagues. We suffer, in life.

Some fill themselves with positivity, with strength and courage. While others drown themselves in negativity, in fear, anger and vengeance. We all lead double lives. We can be happy with our friends, family and even our partner, but deep down. Who knows what is going on with our troubled hearts?

We hide, we shun and we do our best to avoid what people may think of us. We fear things that affects us, we know how fragile and weak we are, yet we do so any way. We cry, we cut, we mutilate our skins, we drink, we party, we pop pills - all to just relief us of the pain we feel inside. We keep secrets, for we fear judgements and opinions.

But why? Why do we try so hard to keep ourselves sane this way?

We are afraid of falling, we are afraid of being seen as weak. As vulnerable as a dying child in the open fields of the desert, being a prey to a Vulture. We won't want that to happen to us, so we try ways and means to hide our fear. Hide our emotions. We were brought up in a way, that by being a weakling, we will be bullied, teased, and made a laughing stock. It's a world where people humiliate each other, just to gain a feeling of superiority. To feel like they have won, and that they are capable of accomplishing something. It's a dog-eat-dog world. A world where only the strongest and the winners get to live.

We were taught to live for ourself. We should never rely on anyone. For if we do, nobody ever stays.

Forever is merely but a word. Nobody ever lives by their word. People lie. We all lie. For when it comes, a situation where it's either only one of us gets to live? We turn back on our words, on what we promised, on everyone.

We were brought up in a world so cruel and twisted, that it's either me or you. A winner or a loser. The strong or the weak. It's never going to be fair and equal. For life has made us that way. That no one would be able to survive feeling inferiority for the rest of their life.

Superiority, is everything. We yearn to fight. For our own selfish needs. The need to feel strong, to overpower the weak. To feel that we have accomplished something. To want to be in control.

We lie, to be seen as superior.
